Speaking Italian in multiple languages
From dialects and plurilingualism to multilingualism
What language talks the Italian culture in its multiple transits? Can we identify signs of Italianness even if they are not expressed in the language associated to Italy? Does it make sense to talk about an Italophone world while many people of Italian heritage and many Italian passport holders have never learned the language? The texts I selected challenge the identification of Italianness with Italian language and question the linguistic boundaries we create around a culture.
